At Film Creatives we also offer Post-Production Workshops which include a wealth of skills and knowledge from anyone who edits home movies to creating and delivering broadcast quality video. Whether it's a group or one-on-one tuition from creative editing to creating mind-blowing visual FX, we are here to share knowledge for future and up and coming creatives.

Instructors

Our London based Trainers, are all experienced industry Editors. Who have worked with world renowned clients such as Apple, Bentley, Porsche, Formula One, The Anti-Bullying Alliance, and National Film and Television School.

They incorporate their talents across the board in editing, visual FX, motion graphics, grading, compositing and keying. Of which, individuals that have compositing skills have been featured in an Official Cannes Selection in the Cinèfoundation section in 2010. Our editors main roles have been Head of Post for many productions, including award-winning artists such as Paradise Lost, In This Moment and The Swingle Singers. Working alongside major record labels such as EMI Records and Century Media, with our work featured on National Television, art gallery’s and cinema’s such as Picture House and the BFI. 

Fully certified in Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X,  combined with their industry experience with their excellent communication and understanding to any client/s. Their combined experience working professionally in the industry in several sectors involving fashion, film, commercial, music videos and broadcast in Post Production houses, make these workshops invaluable.

What is Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut Pro X is a major breakthrough in editing. It provides you with the tools to create stunning edits, efficiently, professionally and effortlessly.  We cover ways to use tools such as the powerful magnetic timeline, invaluable shortcuts and techniques and professional advice on how to get the most out of your edits.


Final Cut Pro X - Introduction (1 Day) £210

Who Should Attend?

This Final Cut Pro X - Introduction 1 day workshop, is designed for anyone looking who has an interest in editing and may have little experience in basic editing software such as iMovie or are transitioning from Final Cut Pro 7 onto Final Cut Pro X. This is a great overview of editing concepts, how to get the best out of your edits, getting to know Final Cut Pro X’s interface and features, and will go through the essential steps from importing your media, to editing to sharing your final product. 

Course Outline

  • Introduction - Introducing the Final Cut Pro X Interface
  • Importing - Understanding transcoding, video analysis and project management, smart collections to organise media based on metadata and keywords.
  • Organising - Using keyword collections, smart collections, events and metadata
  • Editing - Understanding basic editing techniques, Using the Magnetic Timeline for an exceptionally fast, fluid new way to edit.
  • Working with Audio - Fine tuning audio and adding effects
  • Titles - creating custom titles and credits with the Title Generator
  • Transitions and Effects - applying effects and working with transitions
  • Exporting - Sharing your project and outputting the final film for your intended audience.

 

Prerequisites

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course:

  •  Knowledge of OS X and basic computer navigation.
  •  Basic knowledge of editing terminology is recommended.
  •  Preferred to bring their own Mac (Macbook Pros can be provided on request), FCP X Trial will be available for the course duration.

Whether you’re transitioning from home videos to making short films, Youtube Videos, are a free-lancer looking to sharpen your editing process, you will certainly benefit. You will be able to take on clients, and all edits from this course with confidence and a broader outlook on how creative you can be with your projects.

  • Introduction - The practical uses of Final Cut Pro X & Editing in the real world.
  • Interface - Exploring the Interface
  • Workflow - Opening Final Cut Pro X, Exploring the Interface, Using Menus and Shortcuts, Viewing and Sorting Events, Skimming Clips and Changing Views, Viewing and Creating Projects and Libraries, Working in the Project Library, Viewing Projects in the Timeline, and Hiding and Quitting Final Cut Pro.
  • Importing Media - Importing Media into an Event, Importing Folders as Keyword Collections, Analysing and Correcting Imported Clips, Importing from a Camera, Importing from the Finder, and Importing from Other Applications.
  • Organising Clips in an Event - Using Metadata to Customise an Event, Adding Keywords to Clips, Assigning Multiple Keywords to Clips, Applying Keywords to a Clip Range, Rating, Sorting and Searching Clips, and Creating Smart Collections.
  • Building the Rough Cut - Creating a New Project, Screening and Marking Clips, Appending Clips in the Timeline, Viewing and Arranging Clips in the Magnetic Timeline, Inserting Clips into the Primary Storyline, Changing Edited Clips, Connecting Clips to the Primary Storyline, and Closing your Project.
  • Finishing the Rough Cut - Adding Markers to a Project, Connecting Clips to the Primary Storyline, Overwriting and Replacing Clips, Auditioning Clips in the Project, and Working with Storylines.
